Corruption Altar made item disappear

I opened the corruption altar in Jiquani's Sanctum. I then selected an item, thinking I needed to drop it on the altar. The item disappeared and my cursor changed. Then I exited the menu.

Now I can't select anything in my menu, I didn't get to corrupt an item, and I lost the item I was trying to corrupt. (Wanderlust Boots)

Ok - after that, I exited the game and restarted it. When I came back in, the boots were on my cursor and I was able to re-equip them.

restarting game solved it for me as well - was on cursor when i logged back in
