Trial of Sekhemas - death on boss VS "Moment's Peace"

So long story short i was killed by the boss while I had the boon Momen's Peace. I bought it off the Merchant just before the room and it was active.
While the boss was swirling around with his attack i stepped on one of the traps, afterwards I started taking dmg a got mutilated by him.
How's this possible?
