Temple of Chaos- exit

Unless I dont understand something, each time I exit, I teleport to the place where the gateway is then I have to walk all the way down the stairs and enter a new area to hit a waypoint. seems like this is a bug?? if no, please just teleport me to my hideout please and thank you.
