Shockburst Rounds Massive FPS drop on PC with Xbox controller

I play POE2 all the time on a controller (Xbox S series controller with USB connection).

After a recent update in Steam, I noticed that when firing a crossbow with Shockburst Rounds, my in-game fps dropped from 120 to 30 while firing. Each time I use this skill, firing 1 round also lowers the fps.
Everything was fine before, I didn't notice these problems, but now it's very uncomfortable to play.

When controlled by WASD/mouse keyboard, the fps is stable and there is no such problem.

I saw a similar thread on reddit where people reported a problem with Bluetooth and advised connecting the controller with a cable, but that was before Christmas.
