Multiplayer Chaos Trial switch failure

In the Chaos trial I was playing multiplayer. I missed the elevator up and when I toggled the switch my party member was still on the trigger in the middle of the elevator. This caused the switch to not reactivate so party member is up, I am down and no way to proceed
