Amazon "Penetrate" - Can someone explain?

Dropped spear, exalt slammed 2 times, this is what ive got. My current spear is 160-300 phys, 6.5 crit chance with no accuracy.

My question is - when i get the Penetrate ascendancy, i know it adds flat phys based on accuracy on weapon. So, 750 * 25% = around 190 flat phys. But, will it be added on top of the already existing stats on the spear? Or will it be increased by the 73% inc phys damage prefix on the weapon?

I'm confused. You said the spear has no accuracy, but you're using 750 in your calculation.

My CURRENT spear has no acc. So when i pick up Penetrate, i will switch to the new one.

So the % increased phys mod is pretty useless then, and it would be much better to have something like % crit damage bonus, % elemental damage, flat lightning right?

The 641 accuracy rating on your weapon is coming from a combination of three modifiers--one of which is the modifier granting 73% increased physical damage.

One of the suffixes grants +10-20 accuracy rating and 5% increased light radius, which isn't much. This would be better replaced by something like %crit damage bonus--which is a suffix, so it's not competing for space with the %increased phys damage prefix.

The rest of the accuracy rating comes from two prefixes; it can't only be one, because the highest value you can get from an accuracy prefix is 550. You also have another prefix, the added cold damage, so we even without seeing the mods separated we can tell that this weapon has the second highest tier for hybrid phys+acc: 65-74% increased phys and +150-174 accuracy.

If we combine the bonus damage from accuracy you calculated with the displayed damage on the weapon, it comes out to 246-294 phys damage.
Without that hybrid modifier, you would lose ~40 damage from accuracy and 24-44 damage from %increased phys, going down to ~182-210 phys damage.
So, not having that hybrid modifier would lower this weapon's phys damage by over 25%.



A high tier of % elemental damage would probably be better, I think.
Lightning damage might be about even. +64-84 phys would be 70 damage on average, which is better than a low roll on a high tier lightning mod, but worse than a high roll.

All that being said, I don't know exactly what high-end spear users look for.
I just want to make it clear that the hybrid phys/acc mod there doesn't seem useless to me.

It is still useful, without it your spear would only have 32-60 dmg.
The best change would be if the added cold damage would be added phys damage.

%crit damage bonus is not a prefix but a suffix. I do not know how good elemental damage with attacks would be, depends on your build i guess. So far i think for amazon best prefixes are: Increased Phys, flat Phys, accuracy.
