Economy inflation driven by bad actors is an ongoing, game breaking issue
As per the title. PoE 2's softcore economy is worse than PoE 1's at it's worst. Days into a "league" and the price bloat is already out of control again, and way out of step with the amount of currency dropping for players.
This issue isn't immediately obvious unless you're playing Trade, and it's a deal breaker. If it's not addressed in some way moving forward, it's going to keep a lot of people from the game long term IMO. It creates a soft wall for progression at endgame. Last bumped16 апр. 2025 г., 08:01:39

This kind of trading in a game of this caliber is pretty weird. It's like walking into Microsoft HQ and seeing the receptionist working on a CRT.

" In fact I am 1 player. I got to maps at level 68. I looked at how much currency I collected during the campaign. I went to the Trade website to see what I could purchase (nothing) I logged out and haven't logged back in. I haven't logged back in because the time it would take me to find multiple divines would simply result in the items; I needed going up in value again making me unable to afford them anyway. Quitting is a result of many things but there is that circle of life where you need more currency to purchase better gear to go up in map difficulty so you can farm better currency to purchase better gear and continue the circle. As soon as any part of that circle seems blocked, for me the season is over. |

In 0.1.0 - I think I dropped about 4 or 5 (?) divines in total on my way to level 92 ~ 140 hours ish. And that was running maxed out lvl15 maps - albeit without conscious work on tower stacking (I was just looking for the citadels).
Sure, I'm a newbie, but I wouldn't have even gotten close to that level had I not had a helping hand from a friend donating often very expensive gear along the way. I don't have the time or skill (? is it skill? Maybe?!) to currency farm. My worry is that the league mechanic that is POE will keep resetting before I ever get to experience end game stuff. I guess I should just stay in the standard league and take it on the chin when my character build is nuked overnight. It's a really difficult position to solve I suspect; on one hand you have players that can do the campaign in under 10 hours, then on the other hand you have noobs like me that take 80-100 to mooch through it: by which point I'm completely priced out of the game. |

I think it is weird, people are try to sell items for what they would have been worth towards the END last season maybe? Could be newer players not really understanding how an economy reset works.
I have found a few items that are actually worth buying, the other issue is now that people know what is worth a lot, they are not selling the 1-2 ex items that people need to progress, which is slowing down progression for the overall playerbase. |

" There are two factors at play here: #1 Efficiency - Stacking towers, getting IIR, making a map clearing build, choosing the best atlas passives, farming the best content for drops (even if you don't like it), all of these things are efficiency. PoE 2 has a lot of stats and effects that increase your efficiency which divides the players even more. #2 The pure GRIND - Time = Currency. If you play 8 hours a day you end up with more currency than someone who plays 2, providing you are both using similar efficiency improving tactics. Improving efficiency i the #1 factor and PoE does this in a very old school manner, it is not naturally occuring. If you prefer to just play what toon you want when you want then you will most likely find yourself not keeping up with currency. You kind of have to go out of your way to farm currency, use that for your build, play your fun build for a bit then farm for your next one. This is something I could do in my early teens but now in my late 30's I get bored faster. |
