Jewel Sockets on the Passive Tree - Suggested Changes
After seeing a discussion in another thread about a lack of jewel sockets, I decided to make this thread. (This is a repost into the discussion section.)
I agree with the opinion that there are too few jewel sockets on the tree, but also agree with the opinion of the devs that some jewel sockets were too easy to get. I propose that many of the empty areas of the tree should have some central jewel sockets that could be quite powerful with radius jewels. However, due to their more unique and powerful locations, these jewel sockets should be preceded with a few minor nodes that could either be the standard '+5 to any attribute', or maybe something more unique. A good example would be that on the node of the tree connected to the elemental equilibrium passive, a new branch of the tree could go in between (and past) the hazard node, but stay to the left of the vertical life flask node, which could stay as-is. This example branch could have a +5 to any attribute node followed by a jewel socket positioned in a central position between the 'Wasting', 'Reinvigoration', 'Resolute Reprisal' and 'Shredding Contraptions' notable passive nodes. This example branch could, optionally, have 3-4 more minor passive nodes extending upwards and curving to the left, with a second jewel socket near the passive notables which neatly surround the empty area. This branch would require to be specifically invested in to actually get the jewel sockets, but could, with the correct jewels, provide a powerful buff to the surrounding passive tree. These sort of 'jewel branches' could be placed throughout various areas in the passive tree, encouraging builds which would take some less-used nodes on the tree and rewarding creative players.
