Atlas Maps: Add Dynamic Weather + Day-Night Cycles
To add more variety in Atlas Maps, the developers should consider adding dynamic weather, such as:
* Thunderstorm (all biomes) * Dust Storm (desert biomes) * Snow Storm (mountain/forest biomes) On the Atlas Map, imagine seeing a thunder cloud over several map icons, indicating the maps would feature a rainy environment. The Atlas having dynamic weather would change up the atmosphere and keep things fresh. In addition, there should be a daytime to nighttime cycle in Atlas Maps as well. That sounds nice, but don't you think the game has bigger problems than the weather on a map?

" Yes, but could be put on the backburner for now, just sharing an idea for a feature down the road. Последняя редакция: CharlesJT#7681. Время: 23 апр. 2025 г., 11:34:58

But only, if it fits into The Vision...

" Devs even said the Atlas endgame system is undercooked and needs more development time. Who would argue against adding more variety to the atmosphere and environment for the endgame? Последняя редакция: CharlesJT#7681. Время: 23 апр. 2025 г., 15:03:07

I don't want them to even think about adding more fx before they haven't optimized the game so it can be played at a stable framerate throughout.

Love the idea.
Having different light conditions to add some map variety. Like Savannah at dusk, Creek with moonlight, ... Rain is especially cool, and so underused in videogames. I believe there is a single map atm where it is raining. |

" Fits the vision just fine: Rain / Electric Storm - You are struck by lightning every 10 seconds, taking damage and getting shocked for 5 seconds. - Using a lightning spell causes you to electrocute yourself. - Your fire skills and explosives such as grenades don't work. - The floor is wet, causing every step to have a 1% chance of making you to slip and fall on your ass, resulting in a heavy stun. Snowstorm - You get a shovel at the beginning of the map and must clear the snow towards map objectives in order to progress. - You are slowed by 50% and have no evasion while shoveling. - Cannot have other items equipped in MH and OH while using the shovel. - Snow continues to fall as you advance, covering previously shoveled paths in new snow, that must be shoveled again if you want to retrace your steps. Sandstorm - You can only see monsters in melee range. Monsters have regular vision of you, it's their biome, they have evolved. - Your character has a 50% penalty to accuracy at all times. - Arrows, bolts and grenades have their trajectories randomly curved by the wind. " That's quite interesting, would need to be tuned for gameplay. |
