Ice Shards
With Ice Shards having the hazard skill tag, it needs to have its "X maximum shards, no duration" aspect reconsidered, and its mechanics for placing a shard on the ground are too strict.
Currently the ability isn't very useful and is kind of an outlier in crossbow skills. It's useless if you accidentally directly hit an enemy, and this happens very often even if you think you are aiming at the ground in front of them. Even if you get them on the ground, ice shards do nothing if not directly stepped on with a very small collision radius, and have no interaction with other skills at all. Ice Shards seems like a very useful skill to use Delayed Reaction support with, except... Ice Shards exist forever unless you place more, or they get stepped on. They have conditionally-infinite duration. This support actually takes an already mediocre skill and renders it completely non-functional. A few ideas that would make this skill better are: -Give the Ice Shards placed by it a duration, and have them explode in their current dinky radius when they expire 'without being triggered'. This at least gives them some chance of hurting something nearby. Keep the maximum placement amount, it's there for balancing a high Attack Speed skill and I get it. -Allow them to be detonated by detonator skills and explode in a larger radius. -Allow the skill to place a small line of them, similar to Glacial Bolt making a V of ice walls. This would at least increase the odds an enemy hits one. Better than a line would be a V from the enemy to you. A /\, like. Reduce bolts loaded down or something to compensate, adjust AS or something. -Give the Ice Shards an incredibly high freeze chance. At least then there is some actual payoff in the unlikley event you actually got the shard to hit the ground, and then an enemy steps directly on it. -If the shot directly hits an enemy, keep their extremely tiny hit damage, and have it 'bounce off' the enemy and place an ice shard between you and them. At least this way the clunky issues with aim assist, projectile collision, and other esoteric code "pulling the shot" into an enemy will self-resolve. If the player shoots the ground, it makes an ice shard. If the player shoots an enemy, it makes an ice shard. Simple as. I'm not saying it needs all (or even most) of these things, but even one of them would make a meaningful improvement to the skill, and some combination of these items would actually give it some value in the crossbow lineup. As-is, I can't think of a single useful way to use it. Maybe on a map with hallways or choke points, but god help you if you want to use it on Savannahs or something.
