Cross Play or Alternatives (bit of a long one!)
I understand a lot is going on within GGG the moment with POE2 but is there any scope for cross play between all platforms in the near future for POE1? Main reason is for access to a larger trade economy with PC, the last few leagues I’ve much less enthusiasm to start new leagues knowing there is hardly any gear and it’s massively over priced for what it is. Granted, the price issue is a natural thing given less players therefore less items but it’s frustrating looking at gear that’s 1-10c on pc to carry you to endgame whilst farming for currency for better gear and that same level of gear is in the multiple divines on console. Same for farming strats, I see something that looks interesting on YouTube that costs say 20-30c for scarabs/map device and on console scarabs are 20-30c+ just for one at times! Making it not even worth running because you’re losing money! Also there’s the Chinese and Russian RMT mafia that own almost everything of decent value, leading to getting spammed low prices if you happen to own the same/similar item because they’re price fixing. I have experienced this multiple times and it’s extremely annoying to deal with.
I don’t believe cross play between just Xbox and PS would do much, it would have to be all or nothing. If it’s not possible I’d a review of drop rates for console just pump more items into the economy. I know trade board with automatic buyout has been declined several times over the years but it would alleviate the price fixing issue and no response issue when trying to buy an item, something everyone is having issues with on POE2 also right now. My suggestions for the issues if cross play is out of the question: 1. Massive buff to loot across the board flooding market with consumables (scarabs etc) and just above average rare items to make a build function decent enough to get carry you over the line to endgame farming. 2. A reverse ruthless mode. Ridiculous loot scaling so you end up with more currency and items than you know what to do with (lots of T0 uniques and divines to enable consistent crafting projects). Could be implemented in an SSF environment only and only a limited amount can be carried over to standard end of league. This is my personal choice as it would encourage making multiple new characters and builds throughout a league to try new things without any stress of itemisation and crafting currency and without reliance on others selling. 3. More standard love. Enable new league mechanic to played in standard. Console launches multiple days after PC so ‘spoilers’ wouldn’t be an issue. Can add the stipulation of must complete ‘campaign new league quest’ to access new league in full when hitting maps and with a newly created character only. Would have full access to stash upon entering town after killing hillock. I also favour this idea. I’m sure other people will have good ideas of their own or even add more to my suggestions. I’ve been playing since launch on PS, Synthesis league if I remember correctly, and I do want to play the game more but as I’ve said already it just feels like a chore right now from the get go. I was hoping POE2 would alleviate the issues but honestly since DotH I can’t bring myself to play it longer than 5 minutes in the campaign. It’s boring, slow, no loot drops and zdps and zdefences. I don’t take pride in saying that either. I know the devs put their heart and soul into crafting the campaign so I feel like a chump for saying that but it’s just how I feel. It’s great for a one and done but ain’t no way I’m running that every league. Fellow players free to comment your own opinions be that positive or negative on my statement, all is welcome. Any devs, if you happen to see this, any thoughts on potential implementations of the above, or any ideas of your own, would be appreciated even if it’s a can’t do due to technical issues.
