Jamanra Dying Mid-Animation still managed to kill me with invisible skill

So I killed Jamanra mid-animation, the one where he summons a portal and constantly throws knives out. But because he dies, I thought the skill got cancelled. It didn't, and I got minced while picking up my items. I rez, but now find myself locked out of the arena and my rewards.
