Orb of Fracturing Mechanic is Discouraging as Heck
Orb of Fracturing mechanic needs to be modified so that it allows for subsequent Orbs of Fracturing to randomly pick a new "locked" power of an item.
Currently, it acts as a Vaal Orb in a way. Given the low odds of locking the desired item power, plus the overall low-odds lottery for getting the desired powers in general, the Orb of Fracturing basically ruins the item most of the time. Top that off with the through rarity of the orb's drop rate, the whole thing just becomes an annoying tedium of a mechanic. I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you are going to implement time draining, sad mechanics that deflate the player, rather that such that produce a dopamine kick, you are going to continue losing your player base. The current state of Orb of Fracturing is unacceptable, imo. Yes, I play SSF. Every four months GGG expects me to start a new league but, given the stupidly low-probability of constructing useful items, that basically eliminates my chances of a complete, satisfying league experience. This is a reasonable perspective to have. You are definitely right in that the fracturing orb acts somewhat as a vaal orb, capable of permanently ruining an item. Maybe if they were usable on an item with only 1 or 2 modifiers, it would be better.

If it's any consolation, fracturing orb isn't more useful in trade league.
You basically check the modifiers on your item beforehand, pîck out the least useful, worst rolled mod, you want least to get fractured, and that will almost certainly be the one to get fractured (lowest modifier item level req, like for the omens). Just sell the orbs or only use them in some very very specific situations where the likeliest mod to get fractured also happens to be the one you want to have fractured. I did have 1 case like that and what do you know, it also turned out to be my only successful fracture. Besides that, they're absolute garbage, just like every other crafting method in this game that doesn't cost you 5 divines or more per try. The sole exception to that may be the recombinator where you get odds of around 1/20 to combine 2-3 T1 mods for the price of about 24 artifacts and 2 bases per try.
