Trading sucks in this game
Its by far the weakest and most frustrating part of POE2
1. There are not enough items, because at least half of them are inacessible cause they are listed by players who are offline and dont play anymore. 2. Even when you actually find something good, most of the time the seller wont even respond unless you are buying something for 50+ divs 3. If you dont have time to play 10+ hrs a day you wont even sell much, cause once again you need to be online to sell stuff Absolutelly terrible, tedious and frustrating system which makes me wanna quit the game eventhough I am enyoing other parts of the game. What it needs: 1. Instant buy/sell - you list something, so you want to get rid of it period. No bs invinting to party, meeting and proposing trade like in 1995 or something, just send the item to some auction, where everyone can instantly buy it .. player one then can immediately retrieve the item from some special trade stash or NPC (like Alva with currency) and player two can immediately retrieve the currency from the same source ... I mean how the hell this is not present in the game in 2025 is beyond me 2. Ability to buy items from players who are offline and of course same way ability to sell items even when you are offline, then once again save them in the stash or NPC and when the player gets back online he will just easily retrieve the currency for his sold items In the game where unless you play 10+ hrs a day the probability of getting some good drop or craft something is close to 0, you need trade system which is fast and convenient. Not this ancient and tedious bs which is in the game now. I read some rumours about trade having a rework in next update, so I really hope those features will make it into the game at some point. I agree there is some issue to the current system to an extent. To make note we are essentially in the final month till a new League is released so it will mainly be bots that are selling which they mainly wont answer unless you get lucky or buying a high priced item. Player count will pick back up the closer we get to August especially when GGG puts out information on patches and a new League.
There is talks of a new trade/shop system in the works but the only timeline given for that release is between now and before 1.0. Since this will be a new system it will take a long time to create, design, code and test. Hopefully that new system will solve some of the basic issues of offline players having loot for sell but cant be bought till they are online, people answering purchase request (if this is still part of the system) etc etc. I know its frustrating but hang in there, I am dealing with it too trying to farm towers and need specific Tablets but no answer. That is putting a big constraint on some of the drop rate testing I've been trying to do. It makes it more frustrating that my only option is to instill emotions on my waystones for higher tablet drops and we all know how RNG is. Good luck out there mate, your not alone. |

Couldn't agree with this more. This trading system is antiquated, boring, tedious and just doesn't work for probably the bulk of players out there. As the last poster mentioned.. the later you get in a season the less people are around and the ones who are around will not respond to trade requests unless it's a pricey item. Also, good luck selling your 5ex or 1ex items to anyone at that point.
So what about all the thousands of players who don't blast like crazy and have lots of currency or who want to play but start late in the season? It's just a piss poor game design that the answer for all those potential CUSTOMERS of GGG is...piss off or come back next season and blast harder so you can *maybe* get a response from someone to trade. I have actually been wanting to play lately but when I think of the trading that's currently in place, the fact that we are at the end of the season and the fact that the game is balanced around trade (making SSF just a masochist type difficulty setting) I just haven't bothered logging in and that IMO is terrible for business because if people don't log in they don't buy things. |

No AH was the major reason I uninstalled some time ago. Until they add real trade to a game balanced on trade, it's an foolish waste of time to play.
Console players simply are locked out completely. Ridiculous. Console loot filter for POE2 Please!

I dont mind trade having clunkyness or friction except for the fact its x1000 times more feasible than finding/making a usable upgrade with the current crafting.
I could collect dozens of bases, reforge and recombo them until 1 is maybe worth improving, then spam whittling omens and pray- or whisper 10 ppl, give one of them a couple div and now I'm done the game. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

Welcome to the club. I've given up on trading since 2012.

I play ssf so trading is not really a system I am concerned about. But...
First problem with trading is the fact I would need to go outside of game to search for items. It's kind of counter to what usually creators are fighting for: to keep you within their product. Imagine you would have no search on youtube and it would only be a player of hosted content. Sounds a bit silly, doesn't it? And second, if friction in trading is one of the pillars of the design why ignoring buyers' whispers is so easy? It's not like items are posted for sale without player's knowledge so why not put some responsibility on sellers? You are in tough t4 boss fight and somebody wants to buy an item you priced at 1 exalt? Tough shit, game should pause automatically and you should be obligated to take care of business before getting back to the fight. And prices should be final after some grace period for accidental typos so you could correct the price. But declining sale and then reposting same item for more should be prohibited. Imagine that happening at real life store checkout. Oh, you want to buy this pack of chewing gum for whatever? Well, now we want 10x whatever. In my opinion if game has a system or mechanics it also should have UI for them and reliance on 3rd party tools or systems outside the game should exist only as temporary workarounds. It is common that players are clever and collectively they have massive advantage of time to develop cool stuff for the game like various build tools, db mined info browsers, etc. But devs should take their existence as hints to what they need to provide in-game and not let this situation last for ages. |

" what if they get whispered by 15 people at once? do they need to write 14 apology letters? "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" well, I would imagine whispers to be queued so if they would make exchange with first person than system could message rest of whisperers that item was sold to other user. maybe that could work or maybe it would be horrible. I don't claim to have all the answers but I don't think ignoring buyers is good for community either. |

I actually love the trading in POE.
Pretty much anything other than quest items are tradable. The in-game currency exchange does allow anything other gear to be listed and traded through NPC with no user input or login necessary. Im not sure on their reason for gear being requiring in person trade but could be to help against flip bots or increasing in-game socialness probably. |
