Voice Acting

Hello,

I already enjoyed the voice acting in the first game. The voice acting in the second game though, seems to be a mixed bag. The count is very good, no question about it. His wife is also convincing.

But when it comes to the player characters, I feel like things go downhill quickly.

There is the witch, which I think is still the best of the bunch. But she also suffers from something I will call "comical theatrics", where apparently somebody in GGG decided we'd need some kind of totally exaggerated way of voice acting to keep the audience entertained and to create convincing characters. To be honest, I think the voice acting in PoE 1 is just better all around, because less exaggerated.

The worst of them all is clearly the huntress. I don't know what that voice is supposed to be, is that an accent? Also her friend, the hunter of spirits whatever his name was I forgot, totally weird accent. Makes me instantly dislike both of them. Good job GGG. I dislike my character now.

The warrior is ok. The monk is also fine. I just don't like the one liners they constantly throw through the room, like "Shatter!" or "Chill!". Is that supposed to be cool? Is that what the kids think is "hip" nowadays?

Anyway, the worst of them all is probably "I have to save my Peopul" Doryani. [Removed by Support]

Edit: Oh, I have forgotten the arabic speaking woman in act 2, what was her name? See I can't even remember their names. Anyway, she sounds like she is trying way too hard to sound arabic. Same for the sorceress. It's just comical.

Not a fan of the player characters talking too much. Feel like they shouldn't say anything apart from specific interactions within the game like bossfights or quest completions. Maybe some battle shouts if they kill a bunch of rares in a row.

That kind of thing scratches an itch in my brain, but hearing my character just say something totally useless when they are just using a specific skill or element makes me want to turn off my sound.

Also feel like I need to keep the voices sounds up because it's the best way to burn bosses into your muscle memory, so can't really win. Either upset that my character sounds like he needs a helmet and a short bus, or upset that I can't hear the boss attacks, or upset that I have to constantly mess with my sound settings. Can't win.

wasn't this the case in 0.1? my merc and ranger announced all thier actions. warrior was the worst, all i could think of was hulk or some superhero movie lines.

Yeah i get it, just give here Viper's voice, wich is badass, and let her speak some incomprehensible old language :D
