POE2 Crashing constantly - almost uplayable
Hi,
I've had intermittent crashing issues with POE2 off and on since release, but it's been pretty sparse for the most part. They game just shuts off and I'm staring at my desktop, so I just boot it up again. Fairly recently (hard to say whether it was since the last patch, second last, or what) Path of Exile 2 has become almost unplayable. I'm encountering crashes multiple times each time I play. Sometimes I enter full on crash loops where either the game crashes everytime at the opening loading screen, or everytime when I resume the area that crashed (in the loading screen). I did a lot of reading online about POE2 crashes and tried my fare share of fixes with no success (updated video driver - clean instal, updated bios, changed windows settings to limit core usage, avoid windows updates, etc.) Also problematic is that sometimes the crashes aren't just the POE2 game, my whole computer locks up and reboots. The most success if I clear my video cache (that usually gets me out of a crash loop) and then it lets me play for a bit before the next crash. Also another success is if I use DirectX11 instead of 12 , it crashes a bit less often it feels like but the game is definitely choppier when it renders new video content (issue occurs with all three - Vulkan DirectX11 and 12 but DirectX11 mitigates crashes the most). One of my recent crashes on DirectX11 was when I popped a strongbox. It feels like video has always struggled with those ever since they came in. Here are a couple screenshots of windows event viewer from recent crashes, when just the game crashed (not the entire computer). https://ibb.co/23F4gdbN https://ibb.co/Nd2Bzp08 Last bumped23 авг. 2025 г., 02:54:54

A few hours of playing and now I'm over 15 game crashes since posting (at least a handful resulted in bluescreen shutdowns).
BTW - I just took my computer in to a repair shop to have them confirm all my hardware is good and these crashes keep occurring after a clean windows install and a POE2 game re-install (multiple times) |

Same issues.
i9-13900k 3080 Not load screen crashing. Just random playing crashing. I had even gone back to windows 10, nvidia 560.94, cleaned cache, I have tried adjusting cores, all kinds of things. I've tested my 13900k multiple times to make sure it's fine. Последняя редакция: Lewtz#3630. Время: 21 авг. 2025 г., 22:42:01

after the new patch, My PC has been constantly rebooting, started during changing instances, now I could not even log in. PC restarts while POE2 starts. Before the update I did have game crashes occasionally. The crash didn't happen right away, but happened after I change some resolution settings. Now my entire PC restarts by itself, a white screen always shows up before PC crashing. anyone else having this issue?
can not change any settings right now cause PC restarts on game boot. My setup is amd 7700 and 7900xtx all default setting with newest drivers. gskill 32g ram running on default speed. I do not have any temperature problem. Things I have tried: -play other games, all plays fine -reinstall the game on another hard drive-crashes -restarting PC -poe1 -crashes also -clean uninstalled with DDU and install drivers again. |

Ok so I ran memtest on my computer because I wanted to be extra sure it wasn'tmy hardware and it failed with over 1000 errors. I've never had ram die but ok it has to happen sometime, I went ahead and got my ram replaced. My issues are gone! No more game crashing.
The problem is that today I had a friend message me that he started having the same issues as me. He ran memtest and found out his ram was having errors as well. Normally, I wouldn't think anything of it, but I'm an engineer so I tend to think analytically when things happen. What are the odds that my ram dies playing this game, and the same thing is happening to my friend? Further to that I'm seeing these other and it's further convincing me that maybe the game is the problem after all. My comp no longer crashes but the server running my instance crashed twice while I played tonight, something that's not normal is going on with how the rendering is utilizing resources. For anyone experiencing these same issues, run memtest86. If other people are seeing ram issues and this is systemic, I think it becomes pretty clear that the game is the problem. |
