Suggestion: quick fix for towers
TL;DR: Make towers mutually exclusive. If a tower is activated that overlaps with a previous tower's effects, overwrite the effects of the previous tower.
One of the biggest, if not the biggest, point of feedback about the endgame for 0.2 was that towers felt bad. Players felt like running maps that didn't have overlapping effects of towers meant that the map wouldn't contain loot, and that it was actually just a stepping stone on the way to finding and setting up 'the juice'. I think Jonathan put it rather well in the interview with ZiggyD: "Well, my fundamental issue with them is the way that you know that something sucks before you even run it? And that's always bad" The psychological aspect of this, I think, is actually the biggest problem with it, because it compounds the core issue. If you only have the effects of one tower on a node, you probably won't use your best tablets in that tower. And then when you clear your maps towards the next objective, you don't have much 'juice' from the tower on your map, so you're not going to use a good waystone, maybe a failed corrupt or something. So it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, even if the map had some potential for you to get lucky with what it contained, with all of these factors stacked up, the map will be quite terrible. So to fix this in a quick and dirty way, I suggest simply making it so towers cannot stack. No more searching for the perfect venn diagrams, grinding through tens to hundreds of maps only to set up a tiny amount of maps with good amounts of 'juice'. Frankly, even though this strictly nerfs loot by not allowing for 'juiced up maps', I think the mapping experience will feel drastically better. Of course, it is possible to buff tablets or perhaps the tower multiplier to compensate. Another quick suggestion, perhaps the above can't be done or a different angle is preferable; completing a tower with a t16 waystone grants the effect of the grand project unique tablet inherently. This gives players a better and easier way of traversing the atlas at the later stages of the endgame, improving exploration without requiring every juicer to use dozens of these unique tablets.
