The One-Portal issue again.
So I titled this as one-portal, but in reality I mean it regardless of wether you have one, two, or three portals (more than that, the map has way too little juice to be even worth doing).
Now, I'm not saying the one-portal thing has to go, but it's become really apparent with abyss (and also with how deflection works, and especially if you play melee) how explosive and random deaths can feel, even in maps where you feel completely safe. And from poe1, I know this is gonna be more and more the case as content gets added. The new content is always super deadly. So why are we still going for 1 portal maps? Let's be real, if you play trade, you have a real push towards doing juiced maps and it's very common for other maps to be worthless, and once again we have the poe1 issue where explicit mod effect is one of the best things you can stack, but you still have zero control over how volatile or predictable the game is. It's just not compatible. You can't have a system where you get triple punished by losing xp, losing a lucrative map that you took time to prepare, and still have to do that one node on the atlas, in the same game as you can easily have instant deaths on maps that feel completely safe otherwise. Either the game is too fast, too punishing, too scalable, too unpredictable or too arcane (yes, even poe2, and yes, this is about not having a damage recount, ffs). And don't even get me started on visual clarity. The ONE THING poe1 players wanted from poe2 before it came out was better visual clarity, and somehow is the one thing it doesn't do... I dont understand how people can complain about something their in complete control of themselves.
If you dont want to run one portal maps, then dont. You are in complete control. More risk and difficulty = more reward, pretty basic concept. | |
Idk i don’t complain but see where you are coming from, personally never run 6mod Maps unless i have to (Like.. Towers) cause it‘s annoying to lose it with 1 death. BTW unidentified Maps give you 6 Portals, always.
