Heavy stunned and the interaction with sprinting.
I'm reading this from the POE2 wiki:
" https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Stun#Heavy_stun Is this correct? That sounds disproportionate to those defense types. Thematically, it makes some sense that you would not be able to block or evade while on the ground. Does it make ARPG sense that if you get heavy stunned, you loose those forms of defense? My understanding is that you will only get heavy stunned as a player, if you get hit while sprinting. Is that correct? Putting aside the design of having both sprint and block on the same button, I think the falling over while sprinting is fine, I think it achieves the goal of not having the sprint to just move past everything. Should a player also loose their defenses while this is happening though? They are already in extra danger from falling over. I think the time penalty and increased danger, from falling over is enough punishment from using the sprint at the wrong time, beyond further losing these defense types. This would make using the sprint in HC at any time extremely dangerous, if you were built around block or evade. I don't think the purpose of this penalty is to attack these defense types. Surely it is to prevent all players, from over using sprint in combat zones. If there is a way to mitigate against it, that is one thing, but my understanding is that there is not a way to prevent this, except from never using sprint. Seems far to punishing, I think the falling over animation, and loosing ability to use skills while that is happening, is sufficient punishment, to prevent misuse. Последняя редакция: Belegur85#5784. " No, u get Heavy Stunned when ur Stun bar (above ur Flasks) is filled aswell. This happens when u use active block or parry. I agree that the punishment is pretty harsh, but I feel like it's easy to avoid. If it wasn't severe, people wouldn't care and just sprint all the time, rolling the dice. In terms of HC, if u stumble and think it might be dangerous u can just press escape and respawn at checkpoint. There's enough time during the fall animation :D PoE2 0.3 Character: https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/abyss/character/Sadaukar-2191/Acidic_Sadaukar PoE2 0.3 PC performance tweaks: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3852015 Последняя редакция: Sadaukar#2191. " Thanks for pointing this out. So that is the only times, when using active blocking mechanics or sprinting? Последняя редакция: Belegur85#5784. Время: 18 сент. 2025 г., 12:47:36

Cheers.
I see, I think i'm starting to understand. " So sort of like you get the value from these defenses before the hit, which is maybe why they are disabled after, to prevent the sprint duration being over powered. It would seem a bit strange to me though, because you can normally get effected by stun even if you block it. If this is the case, I'm wondering if a better mechanic would be just that you can not block or evade while sprinting. So the penalty is similar to all builds. All builds would then get punished equally for bad sprinting, which I think is the point, but have their defense afterwards. Rather than for these ones, less likely to be interrupted by the heavy stun, but much bigger penalty if you do. I have not played much yet, so still learning. Just started HC, so I'm interested to learn this before I get far on my build. Thanks for helping. Последняя редакция: Belegur85#5784. Время: 18 сент. 2025 г., 13:25:59
