The bad vibes of waystones.
SSF
Making waystones... I find it unfun and it doesn't follow the patterns of the rest of the game, which indicates bad design to me. For instance, gear. Adding mods is fun. It all focuses on improvement, positive outcome. You may get thorns damage when you didn't want it, but you'll NEVER get -25% damage. Waystones are the opposite. Adding mods feels terrible- I'm dreading whatever is going to be added. I'm dreading the new mod so much, that I don't even remotely care what its going to do positively to the waystone. To illustrate... I have no concept how the small text, rarity, rare mods, magic mods, pack size, waystone drop... I don't know how they work... its completely unclear. Does anyone? I add +25% monster damage, fuck! I don't even look at what I gained in the small text. That 25% gain is so bad to me, that I don't even care what the other positive gains were. Theres nothing in that small text list that will make me go... hmmmm... might be worth the risk... I make a 6 mod map for a tower, I have one chance to succeed in the most difficult situation that was very expensive to make. Its extremely easy for any of those 6 mods to absolutely SUCK. In fact, its extremely likely that one of them, if not multiple, are going to be THE WORST. Its extremely likely that modding a map in this manner will cause me to fail. My point is, I'm never thinking about maps positively. Furthermore there is no reason to do so. Now, all that qualified. What if we somehow flipped it. What if maps were naturally geared high. What if waystone modding were setup the opposite. Waystones are harder by default, the more you mod them, the easier they become. You never get +25% monster damage, you get -25% monster damage. Although monster damage by default is +10% or +100%, whatever is decided. Now modding maps is good and fun. Even if the playerbase has no idea that maps are x more difficult in whatever metrics by default. All the modding is positive and fun. There are a variety of angles you can further take with this. Such as scaling maps naturally, instead of by a tier. Corruption could scale up and become more dense as maps are consistently beaten without deaths, or super quickly. Players can no longer just spam farm easy maps, the game rises to meet them. The bosses show up because the player has merited their attention. Maybe even just spawning into a map suddenly, instead of mapping to them. They could come out of corruption, even be corrupted themselves. I don't know, I'm just spitballing ideas around the room; but that sounds way more fun than the current system. Последняя редакция: kazajhodo#6457. This has to be one of the worst things I've read. If maps are that scary run white/blue ones.

" Why is it bad? Its troll to just throw shade. Qualify. Ok, its trash, refine it. Or why should we just throw it out? Also, you need to reread, because you COMPLETELY missed the entire point. Последняя редакция: kazajhodo#6457. Время: 20 сент. 2025 г., 18:31:54
