The state of acquiring gear upgrades is abysmal.

tl;dr: Mad about game leaning into crafting items for currency to buy upgrades versus actually playing the game and getting drops for currency to improve my gear.

So, I'm sure it's very obvious to everyone at this point that the only way anyone can make Divine Orbs, enough to actually get good T15 map gear, is via crafting. Or making the gear yourself.

And the only people who can afford T15/T16 map gear is people crafting and selling items for those outrageous div orb prices.

I got to T15 maps (with some gear upgrades from someone on Reddit for free prior to getting some divs from farming overall for a bit more gear to take me to T15s + some carries through T15 maps for levels) using an ice monk, whatever that meta was before this current change for monks, I forgot what it was called. I quit because I felt like I wasn't ever going to get enough currency for more gear upgrades, but was satisfied from where I was at. Honestly if I hadn't gotten those upgrades from that person for free, I would have quit long before that.

0.3 has been the worst time I've had with this game by far. And I only came back because the "no in-person" trading was added and dropped $40 on stuff for my stash + merchant tabs. And I really feel like I've wasted my money. I thought I'd just come back and continue to farm T15s, but no. Honestly I would have felt like I wasted my money earlier on if I had gotten stuck in the vicious gear cycle without that gear from that person.

The currency/gear market is outrageous and I had to respec to Hollow Palm because "that's the current meta" since the last monk meta got nerfed apparently.

So I've had to drop down in map tiers, because I had to purchase gear with my limited exalts and 2 divs, and lose stats due to having to get lesser gear, which means less valuable loot to anybody, which means less currency for gear upgrades for me. Essentially, playing the game doesn't mean jack now, it's all about crafting anyway, so even if I was able to do T15s, I still wouldn't be able to sell anything.

It's a vicious cycle for people who are stuck in this loop and who don't have PhDs in crafting items in this game, much less the currency to craft to begin with. If you have to watch a 20 to 40 minute video to understand a mechanic in your video game, you're creating something WRONG.

If you have mid tier (T7- maybe 11) gear, you're never getting out of that gear if you don't understand crafting. And I'm not looking to sit here browsing the market for 16 hours, I'm here to play the game.

This is the worst design philosophy I've ever seen, honestly. Why in the world would you create a game based on killing HORDES of monsters but say "nah the monster killing isn't worth it, just get base items and sit in your base and craft using materials that cost currency to get anyway and then if you mess up the craft you're straight up out of that currency anyway, sucks to suck, better RNG next time!"?

Why is this game leaning toward watching market tabs in your browser and sitting in your base all day for currency instead of PLAYING THE DAMN GAME, AND GETTING CURRENCY FOR UPGRADES FROM OTHER PEOPLE OR MONSTERS, FROM SLAYING GIANT HORDES OF MONSTERS? OR EVEN BOSSES! Which by all accounts, just playing the game as it was meant to be played should be able to get you "boss-challenging gear". But it DOES NOT. Not by a long shot.

This sentiment has been echoed on Reddit by quite a few people I've seen so far, and no, farming "white bases/magic bases" doesn't work if the drop chance is 1 in 500 hours, sorry not sorry. And that's for a white/magic base that MIGHT sell for 1 div but in my experience so far, none of them do. I'm no casual video gamer but I do recognize a waste of time game when I see it.

I know I'm one person in a sea of people but this game is not good anymore, and it sucks to have to say that. Arguably it wasn't good on release but it was slightly better than this, but not by much, honestly.

You don't need near perfect gear to be super comfortable in deep endgame.
I have had things in my shop not selling for exalts when they would have cost divs last patch

You are mad because it's too hard to get gear and you also had the worst time in the patch where it's easiest to get geared ?

These 30 minute videos are showing you how to craft near mirror tier things lol.
Spend 5 minutes looking at currency and you can make perfectly viable items.

If you know what stats you're looking for on the trade market you can make many wise purchase decisions around 5-10 exalted to comfortably do T15 maps.

The build is everything and if you don't understand your build/ascendancy or what modifiers are cool for limited currency, then you need to get gifted a lot of currency to make up for your shortfalls.

I haven't crafted anything, I just got a bit lucky on a few corrupts only and can smash T15. I'm an underplayed Gemling ascendancy not even using a Crossbow...

There is entire ssf leagues where people don't trade anything and do t15s and t16s quite comfortably, with many different builds.

You are complaining that you have to grind for gear in the game by a game made by a company called Grinding Gear Games.
Your post was a bit too long didn't read it all.

I am playing hcssf and at level 88. I haven't been able to craft, recombine, find or somehow desecrate my way to better gear since a oit level 72. Still using mostly level 60 gear.

I think the game isn't ment to be played to the highest for ssf players. Rather if your ssf/HC you will peak out then get incremental upgrades for the rest of the league.
I play mortar cannon, I been orbing every lvl 77+ crossbow base looking for high end%physical with no luck.

Definitely feel +skills are easier to come by than a powerful weapon in ssf. Trade really makes this game trivial so I don't feel like playing the trade leagues. Gl

Game needs a good balance to encourage crafting and mapping.
It really needs better explanation of crafting in game. Highlighting what will be removed or what could be changed. Something. The abyssal crafting (other then desecrating) is difficult for me to understand and I imagine others too.

But hey - I can farm and gather currency to sell for exalts and go shopping
i have like idk 2 div worth of gear, maybe less, and i am doing 6-mod T15's with delirum with no real issues... sure i die from time to time but overall the exp bar is going up.. so truthfully you don't really need all that much in terms of gear to do endgame stuff.

if you're looking for stuff to sell and dont know how to craft (like me) just sell bases. if you pick up a blue with a couple good T1 mods you can sell those for a bunch of ex. maybe more.

Many 1 ex uniques can be corrupted into something profitable if you take the time to price check properly. Also if you don't like crafting just exchange everything you pick up into exalts and then into divines. The price of divines has gotten pretty high but like others have said, it's never been easier to find pretty decent gear for cheap.

If you let go off the need to have perfect gg gear you can get what you need to start then work from there. I think learning to refine the trade filter really helps
