New player just hit maps am i supposed to know what to do also whats up with items

I am running thru poe2 for first time . campaign has been great.
now i am at maps and not sure what I should be doing.
I slot in a waystone but there are 4 slots, should 3 other slots have things in them?
Also i have no idea what type of items i should be looking for when they drop
Does (Tier 2) on an item that drops better than tier 1
Or when you alt over is a lower tier or higher better
Basically I have to go to ChatGPT to figure any of this out and even that isn't clear. I am just running maps but its clear i have no idea what im doing or how to build this toon.

The 4 slots where you put a waystone for a node appears to be for future features.

Tier 2, Tier 3, etc. on items just means the item is rolled with higher tiers of modifiers but does not necessarily mean it is better. It was just rolled on a better table.

Basically you do a tier 1 waystone until you get to a boss. Bosses drop waystones that are one tier higher than the waystone they are on. So you work your way up the tiers of waystones by killing bosses to get the next higher waystone. You can also buy waystones from Doryani if you run out. They will be one level lower than the highest you have completed. You will basically only run out if you fail nodes quite a bit. For non-tower nodes it is fine to just do blue waystones. But you do at least want to transmute and augment them which are cheap currencies.

You find towers to enhance all the nodes around it. You should do towers with a waystone with 6 modifiers because then you can put 3 precursor tablets in the tower. Even if you have to do a tier 1 waystone with 6 modifers. Although you should do as high a tier as you can comfortably do because then your tablets effect more nodes. But you definitely do not want to fail a tower with 6 modifiers because you will not get another try at 6 modifiers.

There is a lot more but that gets the process started.

That explains a lot. That explains that developers are lazy to explain stuff and you are supposed to ask other players, chat GPT or use your favorite search engine, use other tools to plan your build (or blindly follow someone's), use external tools to trade or figure out the price of s..it

you're right. They should implement an end game tutorial system for gamers that are unable to figure out things by themselves. Like a permanent hand holding system

well you certainly have the right attitude to be an average poe player. welcome to the forums.
Uh thanks for feedback I guess? remember you're playing an Early Access game, it's in the plan to guide the player when they reach the endgame but for now it's not a priority and it's usually safe to assume you played PoE1 before.
