A suggestion for tower revamp.
Perhaps towers should be reimagined to fit in with other mechanics and make other mechanics more engaging. What if towers become research towers where players increase their expertise in an endgame mechanic. Players can easily gain expertise in one or two mechanics and exponentially more difficult to gain expertise in other mechanics, possibly via items or passives or just by gaining expertise inherently embargoes research in other mechanics. Towers increase in difficulty by providing more and more difficult bosses. To add more engagement with these mechanics perhaps the various mechanics can add to a characters visual aesthetic or allow certain uniques and item types to be equipped by meeting a research level requirement.
