Realm gate deleted my items

I loaded 300 simulacrum fragments into the realm gate, completed the first fight and then logged out for the night. Once I logged in the next morning the remaining 250 fragments were gone. Multiple friends are telling me they leave fragments in there all the time and haven’t lost anything even with 4 days offline.
