Sap of Nightmare life leech bug

So I have the Sap of Nightmare (can leech physical and chaos damage) ascendancy on my Chayula monk, life and mana leech rolled on gear. But my on hit effects shows chaos damage is only leeching mana and not life. I noticed it improved my mana sustain but seems the same with life.
