Game Crash When Using Plasma Blast Effect

Not sure what the problem is but it seems that when I put on the Thaumaturge's Plasma Blast Effect every first cast on a map seems to just close my game out instantly, however when I re-launch and cast it wont crash until the next map I load into. Also everything is completely fine just using Plasma Blast without the effect and no crashes until I use it.
