What the fuck is going on with skill gem drops in A2?

How can I play for more than hour in A2 without getting any gems, consistently?
This is nowhere near my first character. Consistently running into this crap.

One possibility is that Abyss content isn't dropping gems at all. Another is that level 6/7 gem drop rates are just bugged.

My last 5 gems were supports. My last skill gem was a quest reward. Something definitely up.
