If everyclass can shapeshift, what is the point to release new class druid?

Every class should be special, and so is druid.

Because the beauty of POEs build diversity is exactly not being locked into a class that can only do X thing.

You want to be a lich that sacrifices life to shoot with a special crossbow? Go ahead
You want to be a ranger that runs fast and uses incinerate to destroy enemies, have at it.

Most classes are oriented or have some specifics suited for a specific gameplay but its not enforceable and that's great in my opinion.
I mean, it's true for every other class, too. You can be a marauder and use wands and cast spells. Nothing is stopping you from playing a pathfinder summoner. You can do spears - which came out with the huntress - with a witch. Nothing is fundamentally different with talismans.

The shaman's charm-slots-for-spirit skill seems big to me. If you roll chaos res, or stun threshold, on your gear, it's the same as rolling spirit, because you don't need to wear the chaos or stun charm anymore.
Evasion-only melee character that can kill Ubers with cheap gear (SSF Rise of the Abyssal), no armor, no energy shield, 62k eHP:

lol? the whole point of poe is to create something, more limits would only make the game worse. the game should have as few limitations as possible.

Even the fact that there are so many skills hardlocked to one type of weapon is bad.
I understand where you're coming from with this post. And to a certain extent I agree. But I think it's also important to keep in mind that druid is likely going to have ascendancy skills and passives that synergize particularly well with shapeshifting. The proficiency of their ability to utilize their designated/intended weapon type is what makes them unique.

The way I like to look at it is, a warrior can pick up a wand and start casting spells with it. But is he going to be as proficient at using it compared to a mage? Probably not. OR vice versa, a witch can pick up a two handed maul and swing it but she's likely not going to be able to use it as well as a warrior can.
Personally, I am the mind that characters should not be able to fire projectiles out of their melee weapon like Lancing Steel in PoE1. You're not even a melee character at that point and it makes me think of GGG as incompetent. I'll never play melee because you're just a spellcaster at that point. What an embarrassment. Shapeshift doesn't seem tied to weapon so I guess it makes sense. Ascendancies seem like generic stat sticks in this game and seeing a class that has does not have a melee weapon in its character art perform better with a melee weapon than a warrior honestly just feels ridiculous and bad. Player agency is great and all but I'd suggest that GGG just remove classes at this point and let players just choose whatever ascendency they want.
I only play SSF and it is my duty as one to inform you of my status.
Every class is able to use any skill or weapon. HOWEVER shapeshifting should NOT be a weapon. Its a power and that power should be for the druid. OBVIOUSLY. Otherwise Druid is pointless. They could just release the shapeshifting weapon and be done.

Currently I dont see why Druid would be automatically better at shapeshifting. Other classes have just as good melee acendency passives. Druids do basically nothing specifically for shapeshifting.
