The "surpassing chance" mechanic is a TERRIBLE IDEA without changes to projectile spread.
|
Everyone who has played a bow build knows that the aim for odd-numbered and even-numbered projectile spread is different, and that even-numbered spreads will miss the cursor location 100% of the time.
"Chance to add an additional projectile" will be alternating between even-numbered and odd-numbered spreads, so it might as well say "Chance to not do any damage to an individual monster". This is going to make projectiles feel extremely clunky and unintuitive, so unless the even-numbered spreads are changed to always hit your cursor (which would feel super weird) going live with this mechanic would be a huge mistake. It's baffling to me that there aren't more people talking about this. Edit: I've attached an example of an odd and even spread for anyone who doesn't understand the problem. Imagine not knowing which of these two spreads an individual shot would use. Edit 2: Inverted the image for the sake of everyone's eyes. ![]() Последняя редакция: battlecarrier#2128. Does anything say what the "Surpassing" means in "Surpassing chance to fire an additional projectile"?
I don't think I've ever seen that keyword before in PoE affixes. |

" Since it's replacing all the normal additional projectile sources, intuitively it would mean that every time you "surpass" 100% it starts over on a new projectile. So 0-100% is for 1 additional, 101%-200% is for two projectiles, etc. The issue will be that any percentage not divisible by 100% essentially will have a chance to change the spread, making the projectile paths completely unpredictable. I'm putting this post out as a warning now in case GGG maybe sees it and fixes it before league launch... but fortunately it will hardly affect the new Druid stuff anyway. What in the flying hell is a "surpassing" chance?
Sounds like some lazy garbage overdesigned nonsense that doesn't need to be in the game, that is trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Just give the bows +1 proj and nerf deadeye. ~ Seph

I could stand a league with bows being trash. Doesn't bother me a bit.

" While I agree on principle, many projectile-based spell and spear builds that already struggled to compete with LA and LS will be affected by this too |
