kiss curse mechanics a huge oversight from ggg
|
During the recent Talkative Tri interview Jonathan was asked again about the excessive amount of kiss curse mechanics especially around the warrior side of the tree.
It has been a returning question since 0.1 and I am baffled that a huge downside of the kiss curse mechanics were never discussed. Mainly how do I know if the node is indeed and upgrade or not and how it compares to other nodes? An immediate answer to this question would be just PoB it right? But the casual players are not interested in downloading, learning and spending hours tweaking a 3rd party tool outside of the game. One of the sales pitch for PoE2 was to make the game more accessible to casuals compared to PoE1. I think these types of mechanics have the absolute opposite effect. A casual player could easily decided between 2 nodes where one gives 25% increased damage and the other gives 30% increased damage. But how does one know that 40% increased damage and -10% reduced attack speed compares to let say 25% increased damage? Obviously this depends on your current increses and decreases to your appropriate stats which PoB could do for you, but it is far from an optimal solution. Not to mention that I was only highlighting the DPS part in my previous example which does not take into consideration the fact that attack speed is also a form of defense since you are animation locked when casting your abilities/ performing your attacks. So unless you want to cancel your skills to dodge out of the way of attacks (dps loss), you want your attacks to be faster so you have time to manoeuvre around incoming skills and attacks. One solution could be to add target dummies in game (more sophiscticated soltuion would be actual monsters/bosses which you could pound on) where you could test whether one node or the other is the right choice in your current state. Obviously a target dummy would have multiple other benefits, but thats a while different topic. Last bumped9 дек. 2025 г., 05:51:19
