What's the point of Rarity on gear in PoE2?

I used to think that rarity on gear wasn't so bad but then when I started thinking about why is there rarity on gear at all and why not just put everything on maps and the only marginally meaningful reason I can come up with is that it allows a 0.001% of players to go Aura bot builds and stack 500+ rarity for their team play and farm a few mirrors in the few first days of the league and essentially command the economy for the lest of the league while simultaniously fucking over the 99.999% of the rest of players. If this is true, just put it all onto maps, remove it from gear - WE DONT CARE about the 0.001%. This league, I'm probably going to skip all this rarity nonsens and start farming high end crafting bases with negative rarity.
