Eye of Hinekora NPC gone?

First time this has happened to me, but I was rushing and forgot to click on the NPC after the boss fight in Volanic Warrens. Went back and cleared the boss multiple times. The NPC won't spawn. Any ideas if they spawn somewhere else? Thanks.
