Jeweler's Orbs not working on basic attacks

I am trying to add a third socket to shred with a lesser jeweler's orb, but it will not let me. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I'm hoping someone can help me. I remember in previous patches being able to add sockets to mace strike, so IDK if they changed this or if I am doing something wrong.

" It's not. At the top of the forum index is a section for "Path of Exile 2 Early Access". If you can't see the forums in that section, click on the section header. To answer the question--more sockets are added as you level up. |

" As mentioned, it's always been the case that basic attack sockets come available as you level up more. Not sure if that's weapon based, i.e: higher bases provide more sockets, or just on level alone. |
