Lords of the wilds not working with casting spells

doesn't work with casting any spells was assuming that since i can use both a scepter and talasman i could cast and shapeshift at the same time but when i got to cast a spell it swaps to my second weapon set where i have no weapons equip i even locked my primary weapons to the where in both sets but it will say incorrect weapon type when trying to cast a spell and this is even a issue when trying to use command skills is this intentional because making a spell caster shapeshifter or a shapeshifter minion set up doesnt feel good and when i can cast a spell i lose all my minions due to it swaping to my off hand
