[CRITICAL] Game hard-crashes cause Windows 11 to DISABLE AMD GPU (Device Manager Code 31)

Content: Hello,

I am reporting a severe technical issue with the Path of Exile 2 Early Access client that goes beyond a standard "Crash to Desktop".

When playing PoE 2, the game freezes and crashes violently. Immediately following this crash, Windows 11 completely disables my AMD graphics card in the Device Manager, flagging it with Error Code 31 ("This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device").

To recover display functionality, I am forced to reinstall my GPU drivers completely after every crash.

Context:

This issue is entirely unique to Path of Exile 2; no other demanding games trigger this behavior on my system.

The issue first appeared yesterday while progressing through Campaign Act 3. Currently, the game is unplayable as it crashes within minutes.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken (None were successful): I have exhaustively attempted to resolve this on my end to rule out general system instability. The issue persists despite the following extensive steps:

Clean Driver Installations: Performed multiple clean installs using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode with internet disconnected. Also attempted using the official AMD Cleanup Utility.

Driver Rollbacks: Tested virtually every stable AMD Adrenalin driver version released since September 2025.

Blocking Windows Update: Disabled Windows 11 automatic device installation settings to ensure Windows is not silently replacing the official AMD driver.

Game Reinstall: Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the PoE 2 client.

Shader Cache: Manually cleared AMD Shader Cache (DxCache / DxcCache in AppData) and the game's local shader cache.

Renderer API: Manually forced the game to run on Vulkan (and tested DX12) via the production_Config.ini file, as the game crashes too fast to change settings in-game.

Disabled MPO: Manually disabled Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO) via the Registry by adding the "OverlayTestMode" DWORD (32-bit) value set to '5' in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm.

Hardware Tuning: Attempted to slightly downclock the GPU via Adrenalin to rule out factory overclock instability.

Registry - TDR Delay: Increased Timeout Detection Recovery delay (TdrDelay & TdrDdiDelay set to 8 / Hex) in GraphicsDrivers registry key.

System Information:

OS: Windows 11 64-bit

GPU: [Radeon RX 6950 XT]

CPU: [AMD Ryzen 7 3700X]

RAM: [32Go]
