Please let us buy skill and support gems from a vendor in campaign
|
I learned my lesson trying to make my own build.
I went in blind with a plant spellcaster and I’m currently soft-locked at Viper. My single-target DPS is terrible, and I’ve been farming for skill/support gems to pivot, but I can’t get any to drop. On paper the build looked strong, so maybe it just needs a couple more +skill level affixes… but right now it feels stuck. I’m fine with meta builds existing, but the gap in performance between archetypes shouldn’t be this wide. And if a build isn’t working, the game needs to make it easier to adjust and experiment without hitting a wall. Последняя редакция: Bowtye#7246. Nope they did that in poe1. They have decided they hate the players now. They want to make you suffer if you want to play their game. :) Why would you think you can pick up this game and play it freely?

" It is interesting that they decide to remove this in POE2 when it is a core part of POE1 |

In PoE2, since we engrave our skill of choice, an Uncut Skill Gem is really just a Skill Unlock Token. You don't have to find the skill you want; you just have to find a skill. This is trivial through the campaign. I don't really think a vendor would make much difference after playing the campaign with one character in a league.
Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

" this is your mistake. your mistake is going in blind and when you are going in blind, you will be experimenting and there will be lots of backtracking, changing of skills, testing of support gems, mix and match, etc. this is not how poe2 works. the way things work is you have to plan carefully beforehand how you want to league-start your build and then at which break point you will transit into your endgame build. the game doesn't really support making lots of mistakes and backtracking and experimentation. just my personal opinion and i do not think ggg will change anything. if a person screw up the build, then ggg will expect the person that re-roll a new character. 34pre98qua Последняя редакция: stkmro#2432. " So you want everyone to spend an extra 10-15 hours preplanning their builds? You realize not everyone has your amount of time to play. If someone can't get the game an make it through the acts without a Phd in builds they should just not play. GGG already had to dumb the passive tree down for poe2. Everyone complained it was to hard. The fact that it's not helping is the problem. We used to be able to fix early res/life/def with the passive tree. Now we can't and it's showing. |

" 1. path of building; 2. just use uncut gems to make gems you need, they are everywhere, dropping like rain. Only 19-20ilvl gems are rare, yet they are not that necessery if you just try new build |

GGG balances their game around streamers and build makers, its beyond obvious.

How are we supposed to do this careful planning when we don't have anything like complete information before the League starts? I don't think this makes any sense.
I agree that there should be some "oopsie" mechanic for newbies/experimentation. For instance... why not allow us to "recut" skill and support gems, or salvage it for a shard that can be recombined? By the endgame, I have tons of crappy supports I don't want anymore, and honestly it makes stash management a pain in the butt. It would also be helpful to be able to see which of my existing supports fit in a skill without having to mouse over every individual gem. I wind up using a fresh gem to find out what's possible, then go to my stash to find out what I already have. I mention this because today, I am low enough on supports that I'm using whatever I have until I can carve another one. -- I mostly wing it. I read a guide for a new class/ascendancy to understand how it works and get a rough plan, but I never follow it to the T; it's easier to experiment this way. I am currently working off of learnings from 0.2.0 and 0.3.0 and heavily use PoB for endgame optimization, so I'm not using any guides. I still check them out to find out powerful interactions I may be missing. Последняя редакция: muzare#2539. Время: 15 дек. 2025 г., 14:21:29

Every player is having a different experience with drops this league. From what I have seen/experienced its either feast or famine. I got nothing but spears and crossbows while on druid and didnt get a single weapon upgrade until act 2 town. It was a brutal experience. As for skill gems, they are not dropping for everyone as you describe. I may have 2 extra from tier 2-4 at the moment. Got my first 5 and used it on main skill but not everyone is swimming in extras.
The fact you are basically telling them they screwed up trying to make their own build for the campaign is kinda wild. Especially for a brand new patch with brand new skills. They made a simple request which I dont think is a bad one. If you get unlucky with drops you can at least farm gold decently if needed. They have the map vendor for late game that sells your highest tier completed. Why cant there be a skill gem vendor that sells your highest used up to 15 or so. That way 16+ needs to be found in maps. It allows people to try new skills without rerolling over and over or creating a deadeye to farm currency first character no matter what each league.
