Vaal Temple Storage of 'runs'

I wish it was explained anywhere or FAR more clear how to get to store more 'runs' or room and what the progress is at. Right now it is SUPER unclear and confusing and I think explaining that architect kills increase it somehow and more clear on when it is actually storing it. Because if it keeps storing after 6 and always has the portal then need a new thing for it because we are trained that portal on Vaal device means temple is full or ready to run which might not be the case?

It is a nice system to be able to store more rooms but wish how to expand such storage and the progress was conveyed better.
