Vaal Temple upgrade benches eat (destroy) items

Was using an Exalted upgrade bench in Vaal Temple, was about to grab my upgraded item, was instantly killed by one of the stupid ass lightning cannon enemies, and instead of the item dropping or the workbench being clickable, the item is simply gone.

If it is a bug fix asap.

**Edit, noticed the item is present in future benches. This is good, but I still wonder if it happens on the final bench of a temple.**
