Overextend support gem not working with shred's ice fragments?

So i put in the overextend support gem in werewolf's shred.

In the tooltip description, the critical bonus is applied to the shred skill, but the critical bonus is not applied to ice fragment generated by shred (at least tooltip is not showing up). As i understand, both shred and ice fragments are attack skills and overextend should apply.

Is the tooltip disleading or am i missing something.
