not work steam key

I linked a key a friend gave me to Steam, downloaded the game, logged in, created an account on the PoE website right in the game, and it says I don't have access. I went to the PoE website, here, linked Steam, used the key, and it says I don't have early access!

Steam key only unlocks the client in your library, it will not provide early access to your account and should not be given away.
