[0.4] POISON BASKETBALLS, a unique Tacati's Ire Oracle build [BOTW]

Lob basketballs down range and watch it melt packs on every bounce.
Just wanted to share the build I have been playing this league as I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, maybe someone could also find it interesting. Also very thematic thanks to some gem effect mtx :) ![]() FULL MAP SHOWCASE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qor2jHX5BM TL;DR This is a Poison Rolling Magma Oracle build that uses: 1. Tacati's Ire (2% faster poison ticks per 1 rage) with Rage stacking (Oracle gets +21 max rage) 2. "Effect of Poison" stacking, 0.4 added two new sources for it, allowing you to get up to 200% increased effect. ("Effect of Poison" is a multiplier of poison magnitude, Oracle gets +80%) 3. Volatility. Oracle provides a very easy way to generate volatility (Inevitable Critical Hits) and some solid ways to mitigate the damage taken from it. 4. Original Sin to make use of the strong Oracle-only chaos cluster. The original idea for the build was that because "effect of poison" only applies to non-poisoned enemies, shortening the duration for poison as much as possible with Tacati's Ire would ensure that your poisons always benefit from the effect. 1. Tacati's Ire This patch brought with it a lot of ways to increase maximum rage, and Oracle has access to even more. Thanks to Tacati's Ire Lineage Gem, this allows your poisons to deal damage 150% to 200% faster depending on your setup. This is not only a big DPS increase, but the reduced poison duration plays well into the next part of the build, scaling "effect of poison".

I tried running "Primal Hunger" keystone here for double the rage and therefore twice as fast poisons, but losing Rage effect results in less overall damage
2. Effect of Poison This patch also brought with it two new ways to increase "Effect of Poison" on targets that are not poisoned, bringing the maximum you can achieve to 200% increased effect of poison. "Effect of Poison" is a multiplier to the magnitude of poison, there only exists 3 ways to increase it in game currently: - A 60% increase from the notable "Low Tolerance" - An 80% increase from the Oracle-only notable "First Sting" - A 60% increase from a cultivated mod on the Plaguefinger unique. All of these only work on targets that are NOT poisoned, usually this is a problem, but since we have reduced our poison duration by so much thanks to Tacati's Ire (lower than 0.5s), it ensures that our poisons always benefit from it. This combination results in a high DPS poison that can spread with Herald of Plague and melt packs. 3a. Volatility Now my favorite (and completely optional) part of this build is volatility. The support gem grants you a stack of volatility on critical hit, and since this is an Oracle, every hit is a crit thanks to Inevitable Critical Hits, pair this up with a fast hitting skill, and you generate a stack of volatility every 0.1s. I use entangle for that on a Wicked Quill weapons swap to also apply Withered. 3b. Surviving Volatility Since this is an Oracle and not a chonk, surviving this much volatility becomes a challenge. Some of the notable ways to survive the damage are: - Cloak of Flame and Goregirdle to convert 60% of the physical damage taken from volatility to Fire, and with as much armour and "armour applies to elemental" as I could get on my helmet and boots and 80% fire resist. - The Oracle-only armour cluster that provides a ton of increased armour while stationary. Typically I would completely overlook such nodes, but since popping volatility is done manually with Catharsis (while stationary), these become consistent and very useful. - Guatelitzi's Thesis augment on helmet grants "Gain Armour equal to 25% of Life Lost from Hits in the past 8 seconds". Since we're constantly taking damage from volatility, this is a huge flat armour increase. I have seen my armour double from this one augment. - I ended up adding an Undying Hate later on that reduces damage taken from Volatility by 40% as well but it wasn't necessary for the build, it just allowed me to invest more into speed. Spending volatility through Catharsis can be done in bear form for the armour gain that it provides, I tried it with Maul and Ferocious Roar. I eventually switched over to Shred because of its faster attack speed. 4. Original Sin + chaos scaling Original Sin seemed like a good choice to allow me to go all in on chaos scaling. For two reasons: 1. Volatility is "Gain as extra chaos damage" 2. Oracle has access to a crazy good chaos cluster, probably the best chaos cluster of the whole tree. Single target For single target I use Flame Breath with Xoph's Pyre support gem to make the chaos damage ignite. The big ignites from it also last forever thanks to Inevitable Crits + Eternal Flame III (20% chance to refresh ignite on crit). Misc - Jewel modifier "Increased Magnitude of Damaging Ailments you inflict with Critical Hits" always applies for Oracle. Free source of magnitude. -"Arcane Surge on Critical Hit" passive on Oracle means 100% uptime on Arcane Surge. "Sanguimantic Rituals" notable helps heal the HP loss from Berserk. - Rolling Magma can be frustrating to use against enemies in close range. - As much as this build tries to mitigate the damage taken from Volatility, you still will (very rarely), on occasion, die to it :) mobalytics: https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/profile/e30f67ab-93b0-4784-99ce-c70fcc764ba9/builds/f25df28e-9220-4b54-be8d-899b1b59e93f poeninja: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/Pants-5340/character/MyVaalDruid (I am using an Undying Hate jewel which doesn't show properly on poeninja) Last bumped6 янв. 2026 г., 10:22:22

I am a big fan of poison builds and you sir are an artist. The interaction between Taciti's and increased effect of poison on non-poison enemies is genius.
Will take some inspiration from your build for my next SSF playthrough :) |
