TFT in PoE2 - Unfair Advantage?

I'm curious as to why things like TFT are allowed to operate? I understand that it has been around for a while in PoE and many people use it there, but it does create somewhat of an unfair advantage over those using the in game trade. Not allowing everyone the same access to items is odd and I don't see why people would want this in their game?

With Async trade it is even less needed and I feel like if TFT were to be closed it would help the economy and provide other people with access to the same purchasing ability. I could also imagine that TFT opens the door for RMT, as it would be harder to moderate a channel like that, compared to people speaking over chat in game.

I don't even play trade until I migrate, if I even do, so it basically doesn't impact me, but it just seemed odd that a small % of the player-base has an advantage over others, in regards to the items available and cost of said items.

Just my thoughts as I have seen many people talk about it recently. I'm assuming because of the video from Chris. Having access to that site/channel, when some don't, is def an advantage granted by utilizing trading outside of the game.

While it is true that TFT admins make IRL profit running mirror shops, TFT also helps normal players to get around GGG's archaic design and unreasonable demands.

Ascendancy trials - solved, pay 50-60 ex for all 8 points. Bulk trade - solved, people had to survive before GGG finally made async trade, and it was many, many years. Exp penalty - solved, tft offers wide array of rota runs. Latter was especially helpful to me in poe1, since I played "incorrect" builds and had absolutely no chance to level past 95.

All in all, TFT is more of the boon to the community, fixing things GGG refuses to fix because Vision.

How do you prevent people from using TFT? It's just a third party Discord that GGG have absolutely no control over. People will always use out of game resources such as Discord in any game to organise themselves more efficiently.

The solution is to keep improving in game trading until TFT offers very little reason to use it rather than going on some unrealistic banning spree.

I agree. But you just cannot improve trade more to reach the service market TFT provides. I mean, how do you regulate that ?

Let's say you want a 4th trial carry, what do you do ? You go to Jenny from the block ( sry forgot the name ) and get the carry from her ? How do you ensure the dude delivers ?

Technically the board in town offers the same thing as TFT, also the trade channel. If you pay after you get the service. The only problem is that there you cannot ban people that do not pay after you did the service, which TFT solves.
Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

I mean it would be easy to prevent, as you could have any GGG employee access it and ban those utilizing it. Not saying that would be a good thing or not to ban, but if it was against ToS it wouldn't be hard to enforce something like this, especially with Discord being so easy to join.

I do agree with you, however, that continuing to improve the in-game trading would help to reduce the desire to go use the service. If I had to guess the players utilizing have dropped anyways, so you're not wrong at all.

I guess for me anyways, many of the examples you gave I would say is the advantage I'm talking about. Most people don't use TFT or want to have to use a third party program, in order to play the game on an equal playing field as others. While I understand the point you are making, in that it helps some players, that is example the kind of thing I think is bad for the game overall.

- Bulk trade is available on the site, having it in TFT is an advantage.

- Exp penalty is part of the game. If you don't have access to the same exp penalty skips as a few players, it is an advantage also.

- When you say you had no chance to level past 95 and then say because of the third party service you are now able to, that gives you an advantage over the people who do not know or have access to it. This is a perfect example also of what I'm trying to explain.

You say overall it's a boon to the community, but all of the examples you gave only hurt the community as a whole, as most of it does not utilize TFT in any way. By doing so people are at an advantage.

Thanks for the input though. Helps to understand the train of thought of people using the service.

Exp penalty is part of the game, game that allows specific builds to trivialize any content and almost never die because they clear mobs offscreen. Same with poe2 ascendancy trials, they are way too different from normal gameplay, and depending on your build you may breeze through it, or hit a wall.

As for bulk trade, website never offered customization levels TFT has, as in "WTS all my scarabs 20% discount" or "WTB 20+ white heavy belts 10% discount".

It is not players fault GGG cannot balance their game and pigeonholes players into very specific strategies to progress. If I can regain some lost freedom with the help of site also engaging in RMT somewhere out there, I'll make the deal with the devil.

Never had interest in playing meta builds, and in poe that means you're at the very bottom of loot chain.
