How are the DPS calculated ??

Hi everyone,

I play a stormweaver with spark as main spell. I wonder if the amount of DPS shown on the right of the spell when you type "G" includes the "gain #% as extra cold/lightning/fire damage".

In my case, i bought a staff with :

- +6 lvl of all spells
- gain 59% of dmg as extra lightning dmg
- gain 55% of dmg as extra cold dmg
- 52% increased cast speed
- 2 other affix irrelevant for this post

and i have a staff with :

- +5 lvl of all spells
- gain 45% of dmg as extra fire dmg
- 267% increased spell dmg
- 52% increased cast speed
- 2 other affix irrelevant for this post

After watching videos of how calculation works in poe2, i found out that "#% increased spell dmg" only scales on "flat" dmg of the spell, which are not so high.

I thought the "extra lightning damages" and "extra cold damages" would add much more damages because i have many things that scale on these types + 1 lvl of all spell on the new staff.

However when i equipped the new one i droped from 21900 DPS to 20147 DPS.
So before i sell the staff i just bought, can someone tell me if the "extra cold/lightning damages" are considered in the calculation of the DPS ?

Thanks to whoever helps me,

dps shown in game is never right as so many other things are effecting you in battle. you'll need to use a tool like POB if you want actual numbers that takes everything into account. https://pathofbuilding.community/

Gained Damage: "Gain #% of Damage as X Damage" modifiers grant a percentage of your base damage as extra damage. Gained damage is additive with other sources of Gained Damage but multiplicative with the rest of your damage scaling. Keep in mind as it adds Base Damage (meaning before any damage multipliers) only modifiers of the new damage type apply to it.

Thanks, I tried to use POB but it's kinda complex and not intuitive on many points also i don't even know what to put on each settings to make POB match my DPS, life and mana from the game. I saw you can now directly import your character but i don't found how.

Anyway thank you for telling me "extra damages" are added before any multiplier, that's what i wanted to know
