Need help with the vault (have I screwed it up)

Hi,
I’ll try explain this the best I can, I came back to the game after season 2 I left and came back playing the Druid so the vault was a new mechanic which I am stuck on as I didn’t know what it was about etc long story short I’m sure I screwed it up.
I am able to kill the architect but then I can’t access the royal room I am sure the issue is the architect room is not near it’s about 4 tiles away from the royal room and to the left with a path connecting the royal room not another room, my understanding is the architect room has to be directly in front of the royal room is this correct? And if so the amount of times I have played the vault and killed the architect I get no option to try and move that room closer/adjacent to the royal room. Have I messed this up?

Any help would be great as this is driving me nuts
