Overpowered Loot

Is the reason I play these games. Full Stop.

I am so sick of all the whine threads about how something is OP. We are not in competition with each other. "But But But... I plays ladder". Well, If you don't have 18+ hours a day, you won't get to the top of the ladder. If you do play 18+ hours a day as efficient as possible, you WILL find some of the best items, or come across enough currency to buy them. PvP is a joke, and there are FAR better Genre's to test ones mettle against a human than an ARPG.

ARPG's are lootfests. People play them to kill things and gather cool stuff. Sometimes those things are other players. This does not mean it should be balanced at all. When you truly hit the "end" of a build, it SHOULD feel broken. If a build doesn't feel freaking epic, why would I, or anyone, spend MONTHS building it?

Honestly, if this game got rid of overpowered loot why would anyone play past normal? If your answer is for harder difficulties, why would I play it more than finishing the main story up to Merciless? Honestly without the huge OP loot that you can hope to find, this game is no more entertaining than a regular rpg. In which case, I would just play it and move on. It wouldn't get the long term money out of me that it has been. I am not going to buy visual upgrades for a game that I am going to play for a week and move on.

Stop trying to make the loot hunt shorter. It works just fine. MF is NOT mandatory. As a matter of fact, I have deleted my far characters and have restarted onslaught/soon to be hardcore going self found no skill points allocated. (at act 2 presently normal presently, not impressive but I just started and have a life.) This game is NOT too hard. It is NOT MF based. Turn off trade chat and stop watching streamers and PLAY the game.

Stop trying to get rid of OP items. They are fun. Killing monsters is NOT balanced. GGG actually does a really good job of keeping things balanced. Balanced means that there are more than a few builds to play. Actually pay attention to how many different builds people talk about on the forums. There are a lot of them out there.

Final point, there is a HUGE difference between optimal and viable. There will ALWAYS be an optimal build. The only way you can make everything completely balanced is to just make moves different skins of each other, which is BORING. Enjoy the variety. Get caught up in the fun. There will always be builds that "need" a certain unique to work (such as the currently popular low life builds showing up). This is cool and gives you something to work towards. The fact that there is an OP item for Life, Energy Shield, AND melee shows that they are doing things right. I want to see more of them, not less.

TLDR: Your brain is too small to comprehend what I wrote, go back to playing kiddie games and stop telling people how to make games when you couldn't make a flash game.
I guess I will have to buy a one way ticket to hell with your lives
I feel exactly the same. I don't like making new characters until i feel i' finished with my current one, so the only reason i still play, is i`m trying to buy/find a shavronne's and maybe a kaoms too at some point. +1

I agree with everything you said right up till the end, where you basically sounded more like a little kid than the people you are accusing of being little kids.

But yea, seriously, items are fine.

arpgs are about breaking the game, and to break the game you need game breaking items, skills and mechanics

where did the notion of "arpg's are about breaking the game" notion come from?

I think if you watch some of Chris's old build of the week videos, he states something similar to that in there. Don't remember his exact words, but he said something like "We feel that making players feel special and powerful, is more important than sacrificing that feeling for the sake of balance", and then he went on to add "this is something that we can get away with because this game is an action rpg and not an MMO".
Again, im not sure when and where exactly he said that, but im pretty sure he did :)
Pretty much summed it up. You have to have something to work towards in order to keep playing. Granted I don't want to 1 shot bosses and face tank minus max resist multi projectile shrine piety, but the idea is you always have something to work towards to become stronger.

Well, ya. It was pretty childish. I guess I am far to used to posting a decent amount of text in a forum and having fifteen comments about how they didn't read anything past my first two sentences but then proceed to tell me why I am wrong and why I need to sum it up in 10 words or less. I guess I am getting a little jaded, and I apologize for my childish words.

I dont mind it if those items are rares. Uniques on the other hand weren't supposed to be designed for that.

What are you basing that on, out of interest?

Im not saying you are wrong, just curious where it came from.
