Life leech on spells

>Played PoE for 6 months... never done a spell caster

Does life leech support gem apply to spells? And what are all the ways to get life leech for spells? If it's even possible

Does the support gem specify a specific damage type?

Yes Life Leech Support Gem works with Spells. And beside of the physical dmg spells like bear trap or Etheral knives its the only way to get life leech with spells (elemental and chaos dmg).

EK won't benefit from any leech other then the support gem either. If you look at any leech mod from items or even the curse it says "physical attacks". EK and Bear trap are not attacks, they are spells.

Plus, Bear trap or traps in general can't leech for you anyways.

oh i thougt it was physical dmg, but ok i only played range and caster builds until now...Are You sure that you cant leech with traps?...i thought my fire templar leechs mana with the fire trap + mana leech gem...but im not sure atm ;P

Life leech also does, though all life and mana leech from items and passives tend to be physical only.
