Map Drop Rates

I've leveled this character from 50-62 mostly in fellshrine, and in that time a total of two maps have dropped. On other characters I've noticed a similar dearth of map drops outside of maps themselves, and as I understand it, there is no way to increase map drop rate outside of maps.

I have nothing against RNG for the majority of drops, but since maps are the only way to gain reasonable xp and gear past 65 or so, running completely out of maps just makes me want to stop playing. I do like the progressive ladder and don't think that should change, I just think there should be some system to increase the number of level 60 maps.

Some solutions:

Flat %drop increase outside of maps, maybe 2-3 times what it currently is. I think it would make more sense for people starting out to trade maps for other maps appropriate to their build, rather than trading for currency.

Unique boss guaranteed to drop a map between 2 levels below and 2 above the current map level (something like 5-20-50-20-5 % each level). This will promote trading lower level maps that are trivial to people just getting started.

A map vendor in the map lab. I don't know what currency would be appropriate, maybe different ones for different levels. Would also probably need to be a limited amount that resets each time you level to not risk flooding the market.

Anyway, I just wanted to see what others who have put more time in feel about this. Do I just have bad luck, need to just buy maps when I run out or what?

They have already increased the map drop rates quite a bit.
Adding a vendor would force them to reduce the rate.
i think i will keep my first character in the lvl 55 to 60 area and just kill myself repeatedly and farm the crap out of the end game.
Also with the inclusion of act three i believe they said you can farm there quite well to the mid to late 60's

I completely agree.

I start doing maps around level 61 when I had four level 60 maps. After 30 or so maps, highest level i got was 64 i think, I'm back to square one with no maps left. Now my options are either buy maps or go back to act 2 farming, which at this point feels like pure grinding since im getting low Xp and no worthy drops.

I think the better solution would be 1 guaranteed low-level map from each boss, so you will still have to progress to maps but at least you wont be kicked back to feelshrine ever.

No guaranteed maps. Ever. This game is about RNG.

If you were looking specifically for maps, I suggest going to pyramids. You're saying map drops are low, when you're trying to farm them in a lvl that is not designed to drop them. Meaning, the high the zone level, the better the odds.
Are you sure about higher level dropping more maps? I thought I read somewhere that all of act 2 merciless had the same drop rate, so I was going with what I could clear the fastest. I'll give the pyramids a try though.

It's preferential really

Maps drops are influenced by two things; level and mob count (how many mobs you can kill how fast)

I prefer the cave, TONS of small mobs, extremely easy to kill, and only a very minutely lesser chance of dropping maps.

this game is about RNG but still has guaranteed quest rewards to get your build started at the begin.

Its the same thing really, level 60 maps should be easy (if not guaranteed) to obtain, since the real progression should be going higher through map levels and not grinding for level 60 maps all the time

I've suggested, numerous times, that lvl 60 (soon 66) maps should be able to be purchased from vendor for an alch or chaos.

Nothing higher. This would merely prevent risk of ruin from being an issue.

Other than that. Nope.
I'll say the same thing I always do: Make map drops even rarer, and add supplementary non-drop dependent end game content.

The purpose of itemizing end game content via maps was to develop further end game economy and to further induce that sense of satisfaction when something good drops. This will be diminished to the point where maps barely affect the economy even (ergo pointless to be itemized), if the only other solution is to continue increasing their drop rates.

In the meantime

Would be an adequate stopgap until additional content is added. One change though: make the cost in Fusing, as they can always be bartered from vendors. Making the cost alchs and chaos only lends further to the p2w aspect of having $100 of stash tabs to vendor craft.

IMO it should be possible to stay at the lowest level maps consistently while running white ones... but require decent rolls to stay within 3-4 levels of the max (but actually have it be possibly to stay there consistently if running challenging maps). The high lvl maps would still be valuable, and any excess lower ones would be absorbed by the recipe.
