Unable to connect to patching server

I'm quite sure i just downloaded the latest patch through the client but when it restarted i got this message. Now every time i try to start the game i get this message.

Is it a problem on my side or is the game down or are the patching servers messed up?

I am trying to log into Path of Exile, and there was a patch but I keep getting the pop up ' Unable to Connect to Patching Server.'

I've run the PackCheck and it found nothing.

How do I resolve this issue?

I turned off my virus protection and that worked. It never blocked it before. I guess that is the issue.

I just had this issue and read the bottom post. I use Norton Antivirus, turned off the "Smart Firewall" and now I have no problem connecting. It is definitely the antivirus firewall that is preventing you from connecting.

Well, its not in my case. After reading every single thread with this error message in its title/body I have: deinstalled my (avira) virusscanner which never caused problems before playing anything, POE included. I have disabled my win firewall; restarted my pc, ran as administrator, changed the loging path to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Client.exe" --patching-server pathofexile.com:3724 (in the goal area yes!)tried 5 different VPN providers, including the one which is described step by step in another post (openVPN or something). All the VPN server will not connect.

For me i think i can narrow down my problem to my new location: i have always played this at home in NL but now im in belgium for 3 weeks on a campus and i think there might be a firewall preventing POE to update. I cant just go to the system administrator here because its a military place and i am just a guest here. I was looking forward to playing POE for 3 weeks in the evenings so it makes me kind of sad.

Is there a workaround? Can i buy a router or something and connect it to the wall cable and then set up my own wifi and change some settings or might it be that, provided the line connection has built in port blockers, this new wifi will share the same properties as the source connection?

Anyways, i need to farm, find an exalted get rich! Not spend my evening in the world of VPN stuff.
