You can use corrupted items in vendor recipes, you just can't use recipes to modify corrupted items. Other recipes will still work fine.

No, because that's still modifying the corrupted gem. Other recipes like a corrupted gem + iron ring will still get you a ruby ring. Or using corrupted items in the chaos recipe will still work.

Sorry for not explaining it better. I just didn't want you to think that you couldn't use corrupted items at all in recipes.
