I agree with you that soultaker (at least non legacy) is rather overpriced.

Also WoE opens up 2nd 6L possilbilities (though usually not needed due to BotR).

And, as mentioned before, WoE is better defensively, due to spell block and stuff.

Exalton's build is really really different from a WoE build. You're comparing a 6 aura, CI and instant leech build to a life build that uses 1-2 auras and depends on block.

I don't know how exalton's does in the current patch but it previously tanked far more situations than a WoE build. Is is much more expensive to gear for so that's not surprising.

I found a use for my self found soul taker - traded it for a nice 6 L astral :)

i still cant understand why u need use aegis with soul taker i only see 5% max cold resistance good and nothing else in that shield

The best stat on Aegis is the replenish energy shield on block.
You don't NEED it with Soul Taker, but it's an amazing shield.

Best part of Aegis is the es on block. Problem it has now is reaching spell block cap, which is also one of the problems with Soul Taker. To get max block and spell block you need to use Rathpith, which means ST is your main hand which means dps isn't so hot. Of course you don't NEED capped block (Exalton's build has only 19%) but I think that's a big part of the meta right now.
